The Nightmare

I woke up last night,
Sweat poring out,
My throat was dry,
But I managed a shout.

T'was a nightmare,
Quite a horrific one.
Walking a dark alley,
Was me and none.

A loud roar,
The most terrific din,
All those wicked departed souls,
In better hells been.

I had woken up apparently,
By that slightest fear.
Convinced was I,
This was not a nightmare mere.

My heart was racing,
My brain in tumult
I clammered for the light,
And finding it, did I exhult.

The clear room air,
With the room lit as well,
I heaved a sigh a relief,
And cherished the room where I dwell.

I thought of the blind the next day.
